Standard Operating Procedure

Performing and Documenting Clinical Team Training.

The purpose of the NCRN training and education Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Performing and Documenting Clinical Team Training, is to promote a systematic approach to training and education for the clinical research team in oncology. It aims to standardise training practices across research networks, whilst still encouraging flexibility and creativity by incorporating and building upon local network initiatives. It serves to define and clarify roles and responsibilities of all those involved in training at both a local and national level.

Adherence to the SOP will assure a basic standard of clinical team competence, in line with regulatory body guidelines such as The Department of Health Research Governance Framework and ICH Good Clinical Practice. The SOP supports the theory of experiential learning as a continual process and highlights external and clinical training opportunities to meet an individuals’ short, medium and long term training needs.
